Three senior staff members from The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust are set to tackle the AJ Bell Great Birmingham Run on Sunday 5th May in a bid to raise vital funds for the Dudley Group NHS Charity.
Team Dudley consists of Jack Richards, director of operations for the surgery, women and children directorate, Rory McMahon, director of operations for the medicine directorate and Luke Lewis, directorate manager for acute medicine.
The trio decided to join forces with the aim of running 13.1 miles across the streets of Birmingham whilst raising funds for the Trust Charity.
They will be joining 12,000 other runners around the popular route which covers Broad Street, Centenary Square and The Library of Birmingham, St Paul’s Square and the Jewellery Quarter, along with city-centre landmarks such as Grand Central and the Mailbox.
Luke said: “I am delighted to announce that Team Dudley will be taking to the streets of Birmingham this May to help improve the care and experience of patients at The Dudley Group.
We wanted to come together with a common goal whilst giving back to our Trust charity which supports and funds so many great initiatives. I’m hoping the atmosphere and crowds on the day are going to push me through the miles!”
Rory said, “It is great to do something positive with my colleagues. A few years ago I was an elite runner and took part in races regularly. Unfortunately, due to two hip surgeries I have not been able to compete in a long distance run for a while. This is the first time I will be doing the Birmingham half marathon and I am aiming to complete it in 1 hour 40 minutes!”
The three runners have been fitting their training runs around their work schedules, in order to get in shape for the big day.
Nithee Patel, Head of fundraising for the Dudley Group NHS Charity said, “We are delighted that Luke, Jack and Rory are coming together on this incredible challenge. They are all eager to raise as much money for the charity as they can, because they see what a difference it makes to the experience of our patients at what can sometimes be the most difficult time of their lives, so please support them and donate if you are able to do so.”
