The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust provides a specialist cancer service for the population of Dudley and also for patients from the adjoining boroughs of Sandwell, South Staffs and the Wyre Forest.
This page contains information about Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT), including chemotherapy, targeted therapies, additional supportive treatments and SACT related procedures. The information on this page aims to support patients in ensuring they receive safe, high quality, evidence-based cancer care.
Chemotherapy services are being offered within The Georgina Day Case and The Georgina in-patient Unit (C4) at Russells Hall Hospital, where you will also find the outpatient oncology / haematology clinics.
Ensuring patients are given information before they start treatment is widely regarded as good practice and has been found to empower patients, reduce anxiety and improve compliance. As the demand on our services increases, we need to ensure our patients are given the information they need to identify symptoms and side effects of the SACT as early as possible, to prevent hospital admission and increase quality of life.
The Macmillan Cancer Support website is a helpful and informative resource, where you can access information related to your chemotherapy drugs. The website has a section called: Cancer information and support where you can access information around:
