This week Black Country business came together to show their support for their local hospital charity and raised a whopping £17,570 for the dementia appeal.
For the fourth year the Dudley Group NHS Charity, part of The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, hosted their iconic annual Glitter Ball on Thursday 14th November 2024 at the Copthorne Hotel in Dudley. Gathering local businesses together, the evening offers the opportunity for attendees to raise funds for the charity and network with other like-minded Black Country businesses.
The dementia appeal helps patients who are living with dementia across the Forget Me Not Unit, Elderly Care and Frailty wards at Russells Hall Hospital.
With the funds raised the charity will be purchasing Mobii interactive magic tables, which are fully portable interactive systems designed to project images, games and photos to walls, floors and bedside tables. The Mobii is designed for patients at all stages of dementia and can be taken anywhere it is needed.
The event was kindly sponsored by Altera Digital Health, Mitie, Summit Healthcare, How to find a Care Home and Dudley College of Technology.
Altera Digital Health Executive VP for UK & EMEA Rachael Fox, said:
“I’m really honoured to be a sponsor of this event and work with The Dudley Group NHS Charity. It’s really important that we give something back not just to Dudley but to the patients and the local community. As a sponsor and a supplier of The Dudley Group with the electronic patient record, it’s so important for us to sponsor something like thing this and we’re really proud to be a part of it.”
Guests were treated to a wonderful evening of entertainment including welcome drinks and a two-course meal, as well as music from the resident DJ. They had an opportunity to hear from the Trust’s chief executive Diane Wake and specialist doctor in dementia care Russell Taylor.
In addition, guests also heard from three sisters who shared their heartfelt story caring for their father with dementia.
