Women’s health took centre stage at the Coseley Family Hub this week, as the local community gathered for an afternoon dedicated to raising awareness about menopause.

The Menopause Café, held on Tuesday 5th February, brought together healthcare professionals, and local residents to address the challenges and misconceptions surrounding menopause and highlight support systems available for the community.

The event, organised collaboratively with Lion Health and the Dudley Care and Health Partnership (DHCP), featured a presentation by Dr Victoria Hobbs focused on busting myths around menopause, and other topics including managing symptoms and access to healthcare resources.

Dr Victoria Hobbs, GP and accredited menopause specialist, said: “Menopause is a natural transition, yet many suffer in silence due to stigma and lack of information. This event was about breaking barriers, fostering support and ensuring that women in Dudley feel seen, heard and supported.”

The afternoon gave attendees the opportunity to share their own experiences and discuss their way of coping, both physically and mentally, and received overwhelming positive feedback, with many participants expressing gratitude for the insights and support provided. The event’s success underscores a growing demand for more education and resources on menopausal health within the community.

Diane Wake, chief executive of The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We are committed to continuing the conversation around menopause in our local community and spreading awareness of the healthcare offerings available.
“We’re thrilled to hear the positive feedback from attendees, and we look forward hosting more events like this in future months.”
