Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust’s pulmonary rehabilitation service has been awarded with the PRSAS (Pulmonary Rehabilitation Services Accreditation Scheme) accreditation status from the Royal College of Physicians.

The programme works with pulmonary rehabilitation services across the UK to improve the quality of patient care. The accreditation is awarded to services who have demonstrated exemplar model and best practice standards, including quality and safety, patient experience and workforce satisfaction.

With the patient at the heart of every decision, the assessment team praised the drive for quality improvement and ensuring that all staff, regardless of role or banding, are involved in ongoing projects. As well as positive patient feedback, the wellbeing of staff is a priority within the workforce, demonstrated in the principles of support and encouragement for growth.
Laura Van Den Heule, pulmonary rehabilitation team lead said: “I am so proud that the team have been awarded accreditation status. The whole team have worked really hard to ensure the service meets all the PRSAS standards and this is reflected by the positive outcomes achieved by our patients.”

Recognised as a hallmark of quality, the accreditation acknowledged the service being well supported by wider management, its patient experience, the strong team ethos and having a quality improvement scheme embedded in its professional standards.

The Dudley Pulmonary Rehabilitation Service is based at Stourbridge Health and Social Care centre and offers centre-based community Pulmonary Rehabilitation (PR) from four venues across the Dudley Borough (Stourbridge, Cradley, Dudley and Kingswinford).
