The Dudley Group charity is holding a 5k superhero fun run at Himley Hall Park on Sunday 11th June to raise money for the children’s ward at Russells Hall Hospital to support children and young patients while they are in hospital.
The Trust, which runs Russells Hall Hospital and Corbett and Guest outpatient centres, is asking the public to get dressed up as their favourite superheroes and join healthcare staff for a great day out.
“Hospitals can be a scary place, especially for children in our care,” said chief executive Diane Wake.
“We accept over 4,500 admissions a year and the funds raised for our Children’s Appeal will help provide the best possible environment to our patients and their families,” added Diane.
Ongoing contributions allow us to enhance the wellbeing and experience of our patients and staff by providing services and facilitates not routinely funded by the NHS or our Trust.
The Superhero Fun Run takes place this weekend with registration opening at 10.30am and the race starting at 11am. There is also a family fun day filled with children’s activities, a fun house, stalls, and refreshments available until 3pm.
HSBC UK Wolverhampton Market and Inlife Designs have sponsored the event.
Dudley Kingswinford Running Club and its members are supporting with the running route and as marshals, and Puregym, based at Dudley Port, will be starting the day with a warmup session.
Well-known local busker Billy Spakemon shall also be playing, and Black Country Radio and its hosts Paul and Christine will be bringing further musical motivation to the day.
