You may have heard in the media that The Dudley Group was one of 14 trusts who had recorded higher than expected mortality indicators for two consecutive years selected for investigation in the Keogh Review.
We are pleased that The Dudley Group is one of three of those trusts not put into special measures and that Monitor (the regulator of Foundation Trusts) has confidence in our leadership to deliver the recommendations of the review.
The Trust welcomed the review into the quality of care that we provide and are pleased to report the review team did not find any areas of major concern that warranted further escalation.
This is testament to the hard work and commitment of all our staff and the pride they take in delivering the best possible care to our patients.
The review has been one of the most far reaching and detailed reviews the Trust has ever experienced and it gives us confidence that we are providing good quality of care, whilst recognising the areas where we can do better.
I would like to reassure our patients and their families that we do everything in our power to ensure patients are safe and well cared for. We are pleased that some of the issues the review team raised with us were those we were already working on and, following the risk summit, we have agreed our actions to help us continue to improve.
