The Dudley Group NHS Charity is celebrating the success of their first Easter egg appeal after over 1,500 chocolate eggs were donated for the Trust’s patients.
The charity launched their Easter egg appeal in February at Russell Hall Hospital, Corbett Outpatient Centre, Dudley Guest Outpatient Centre, and its community sites, appealing for donations for patients to enjoy a chocolate treat over the Easter weekend.
Thanks to the generosity of organisations like; Dudley Lions, The Enterprise Group, Summerhill School, Lloyd’s Bank, Puregym, numerous supermarkets, Trust staff and many other members of the local community, the charity was overcome by the success of the appeal, with over 1,500 Easter eggs donated.
Amy Sargent, lead nurse on the Forget Me Not Unit at Russells Hall Hospital said “Our patients on the ward loved the Easter treats they received whilst in hospital. We’d like to say a huge thank you for all the donations, it makes a real difference to our patient experience.”
Janet Moone, a patient on Forget Me Not Unit said, “For a chocoholic like me, receiving a chocolate treat in time for Easter was lovely and a kind gesture during my stay here. Thank you.”
Diane Wake, chief executive for The Dudley Group and a trustee of the charity said, “We have been overwhelmed with the amount of support for the appeal. I’d like to say to everyone who donated, a huge thank you for their wonderful contributions, it’s been incredible! I would also like to say a special thanks to Sam Powers, our charity fundraising and events manager, whose brilliant idea this was!”
