Our brand new £2.6million Emergency Treatment Centre has now opened.
The Emergency Treatment Centre is the umbrella name for the Emergency Department (ED) reception and the newly-built Urgent Treatment Centre (the new name for the Urgent Care Centre).
All patients who arrive on foot will report to the new Urgent Treatment Centre nurse streaming desk. From there, they will be directed to the Urgent Treatment Centre reception desk or to the new Emergency Department reception desk, depending on clinical need.
Having the two services side-by-side means patients won’t have as far to go for non-emergency care and staff will be able to work even more closely together to provide a seamless service.
The new building has a new Urgent Treatment Centre waiting area and new Emergency Department waiting area.
The access-controlled ambulance arrivals entrance will take patients to the new ambulance triage area.
In addition to volunteers to help with wayfinding, a large map of the new Emergency Department can be located at our main reception desk. Information Leaflets about our new Emergency Department will be available for all visitors.
