Dr de Silva qualified from the University of Leeds in 1997 and completed her post graduate training in the West Midlands. During this time she also obtained a Masters in Medical Education from the University of Warwick and completed an Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) fellowship at the University of Calgary in Canada. She has been a consultant at The Dudley Group since 2010, and is the current medical service head for gastroenterology and the clinical lead for inflammatory bowel disease. Subspecialist areas of interest include inflammatory bowel disease, endoscopy for inflammatory bowel disease surveillance along side being actively involved in IBD research. She is also a member of the teaching academy for the University of Birmingham Medical School and in her spare time enjoys running, reading and baking with her young daughter.
